Mishaps off the Mainland… a CelebrateLit tour review

If you haven’t read the other books in the Independence Islands series, you really should give them a try. Each book is uniquely written in the author’s own way, but they all tie together so nicely. Familiar characters pop in every once in a while, making it feel like an old friend has stopped by. And while I do have a favorite, so far I’ve enjoyed all of the books I’ve read in this series.

Mishaps on the Mainland is another great addition to the series and in it, we meet Mel and Zeke, two people struggling to make their way and learn God’s will for their lives. This book, at first glance, doesn’t appear to be any deeper than the others in the series, but underneath the laughter and joking there are very real spiritual matters that need to be taken into consideration. Quite often when this happens it soon begins to feel as though the author is preaching at the reader. In this case though, it feels more as if the characters have things to learn and we’re being taken along for the ride, with a great deal of lightheartedness sprinkled in along the way to help balance out the more serious moments.

The book itself is well-written and engaging. I have no complaints at all about the story writing and will definitely be picking up other books by this author.

I requested a copy of this book to review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
